Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the UTS, students must:

  • Have been provisionally admitted to a Master's programme at the University of Twente for the academic year 2025/2026.

  • Be in possession of a student number at the University of Twente.

  • Have no prior degree from the University of Twente.

  • Fulfil visa requirements if applicable.

  • Meet the general English language proficiency requirement (e.g., IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90).

  • Be among the top 5-10% of their class, demonstrating academic excellence.

Important Details for Two-Year Programs

For those enrolled in a two-year Master's programme, the scholarship may be extended for the second year if the following conditions are met by the third quartile of the first year:

  • Achieve an average grade of 7 (out of 10).

  • Earn at least 50% of the European Credits (ECs) by the third quartile.

Application Process

  1. Step 1 – Apply for a Master's Programme: Submit your application for a Master's programme at the University of Twente. After receiving your conditional or unconditional admission letter, you can apply for the UTS.

  2. Step 2 – Submit Scholarship Application: Use your student number to apply for the UTS, which is a separate application from the course entry application.

Note: The UTS is not available for students applying to the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) or to pre-Master's programmes.

Application Deadlines

There are two application rounds for the UTS:

  • Round 1: Opens on 15 October 2024, 09.00 CET; closes on 1 February 2025, 16.00 CET.

  • Round 2: Opens on 1 February 2025, 16.00 CET; closes on 1 May 2025, 16.00 CET.

If you apply in Round 1 and your application is rejected, you will not be able to apply again in Round 2 for the same year.
